Because the ORwell™ system uses a 20L collection disc that is intended for single-patient use, this discourages the practice of “stacking” fluids from multiple cases. The use of a single-patient disposable disc helps prevent possible cross contamination and contributes to a cleaner operating room environment because every component that contacts surgical fluid is discarded and there is not a contaminated device left in the operating room for prolonged periods of time.
